Job Title: Medical Release of Special Information Clerk

Location: Arlington

Pay: $13.50/hr.

Schedule:

(Monday - Friday) Flexible to work an 8 hour shift between 6:00am - 8:00pm

Job Description:

  • Retrieve point of care and discharge records from assigned patient care areas

  • Complete Scan Alerts and post to chart for records retrieved at point of care

  • Prepare paper records for scanning removing staples and any documents that is not part of the legal medical record

  • Examine documents verifying patient name and encounter number

  • Group like documents together in chronological and page number order

  • Examine documents verifying correct document type

  • Prioritize time sensitive records

  • Productivity Metrics for Prepping

  • Scan documents using appropriate scanning method and scanner settings

  • Review the electronic image and compare to the paper document to confirm image quality, correct rotation and correct document type. Revise or relocate scanned documents when determined appropriate

  • Minimize duplicate documents and overlap entries

  • Perform periodic cleaning of scanner

  • Prioritize late reports for prepping/scanning. Look-up and document encounter number on document as needed

  • Assist in monitoring of manual index queue

  • Index images to correct patient, encounter, and document type

  • Import photographs and other documents into the document imaging system according to procedure

  • Assist internal and external customers as needed, including facilitating request for medical records

  • Destroys scanned records in accordance with policy

  • Assist with preparation and logging of downtime fetal monitor strips

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of health record format and content for all visit types

  • Ability to examine a form and determine its proper placement within the record

  • Ability to consistently perform repetitive tasks and with high accuracy rate

  • Organizational, problem-solving and attention to detail skills required

  • Ability to process HIPAA compliant authorization for release of information

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to stand and walk for one to three hours per day
