Job Title: Financial Counselor (Contract Only)

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Compensation: $15-19/hr. Based on Experience

Job Description:

  • The Financial Counselor is responsible to provide patients, physicians, eligibility vendors and internal personnel with information regarding financial assistance programs and payment requirements for scheduled and unscheduled services.

  • Obtain third party coverage for patients who have no other means of payment.

  • This position requires timely completion, preparation, and deployment of legal documents, and financial assistance applications, i.e. Medicaid, CSHCN, CCMC FQ applications.

  • Ensures that all payment and program possibilities are exhausted.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of the Financial Policy, Financial Assistance, County Indigent, state and local government, regulations and requirements, and deployment of practices used within the organization to resolve the patients accounts.

  • The Financial Counselor exhibits a high level of empathy with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and family members during traumatic events, while demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.

  • Researches financial questions/issues on customer accounts, using analytical skills to ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve the account in a timely manner and has exceptional technical knowledge of all aspects of Patient Access Services and the Central Business Office and is able to interpret specialized communications and documents from a variety of sources.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of healthcare billing or insurance verification and follow-up

  • Knowledge of insurance terminology (Medicare, Medicaid and managed care)

  • Associates Degree preferred

  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Knowledge of Epic Systems or OnBase preferred
