Job Title: Airport Operations Officer Internship
Location: Dallas Love Field Airport
Schedule: Monday - Friday
24 weeks in length and 40 hours/work week .
Availability to work rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights) including weekends
Pay: $20.00/hour
Responsibilities:The Airport Operations Officer Internship Program is designed to introduce future Airport managers to the many facets of Airport Operations functions working at a medium hub Commercial Service Airport. The intern is assigned to work under general direction of the Manager Airside & AOC and will be immersed in a variety of daily Airport Operations activity including but not limited to Airside Operations, Airport Operations Center (AOC) and Airport Operations Duty Manager activities.

Answers, responds to, and helps customers and patrons using the airport with all manner of questions, inquiries, or concerns; provides direction, insight, and information for airport
operations, services, and other resources; handles and addresses noise complaints and other issues from the surrounding community and neighborhoods.

Inspects airport for compliance with FAA regulations pertaining to federal standards and requirements to ensure the operational readiness of the airport; conducts facility inspections for discrepancies to avoid possible injuries to the public; maintains aesthetics of the airport and reports any issues or maintenance concerns.

Assists, supports, and helps airlines with various requests, fuel or lavatory spill calls, custodial spills, and appropriate reporting methods for incidents; effectively uses communication software and systems to send messages to personnel and handle personnel or patron situations.

Responds effectively to alerts and emergency situations; uses communications software to ensure all necessary parties and agencies are notified; effectively coordinates communications and information sharing to mitigate the effect of a situation on airport operations.

Performs all other work as needed or assigned
Job Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor s degree in aviation management, aviation safety, or related discipline; or senior students (last semester) from an accredited college or university in aviation management, aviation safety, or related discipline.

Selected candidates must be highly motivated in pursuing a career in Airport Management.

Ability to pass the airfield operations movement and non-movement area written and practical examination

Knowledge of Modern office equipment including computer systems and proficiency in operating Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

General knowledge of airport operation principles and practices, including general aviation facilities and services.

General knowledge of FAR Part 139 and TSR 1542.

Knowledge of Per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20, the selected candidate must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the English language.

Must have skills in Time management, Emergency Response, Public relations, Problem resolution, Customer Service, Communication, and Dispatch
Work Environment

This position requires the employee to work in a variety of climatic conditions, and involves exposure to noise, chemicals including airplane fuels, degreasers, deicers, and other contaminants, moving mechanical hazards, and extremes of temperature and weather conditions.

Must safely lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds

The position requires sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands and fingers.

The position also requires the ability to stoop, reach, bend at waist, feel and operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must be able to stand or be seated for periods of time.

The employee must be able to walk freely without restriction.

This position has specific vision abilities, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
