Job Title: Bilingual Literacy Instructor-Community Specialist


Location: Dallas, TX


Schedule: Monday - Thursday varies between 9am and 8pm; and Saturday, 9am -1pm Part time (20 hours/week)


Pay: $25.00/hour


Responsibilities:

  • The Literacy Instructor-Community Specialist position works directly under the Adult Learning Manager to coordinate adult learning opportunities that facilitates language literacy, help develop life skills, and enhance work skills.

  • Language literacy includes English as a second language instruction.

  • The Specialist implements a plan of action to execute program objects successfully through regular community outreach within the district. The position is responsible for developing community relationships in order to assess community needs to determine best practices for this initiative.?

  • Other duties as needed


Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required to Perform Work-

  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching English as a second language.

  • Ability to work under limited direction and to take initiative

  • Ability to train and supervise class volunteers

  • Ability to establish short and long term goals for the program

  • Attention to detail and ability to carefully track statistics and outcomes

  • Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels, both orally and in writing

  • Must be bilingual - Spanish

  • Bachelor's degree required plus two years experience in one or more of the following areas: education, curriculum development, libraries, and/or non-profits. Effective

oral and written communication skills plus MSOffice or similar software skills are required. A five-year combination of specified education and experience will qualify
