The City of Dallas Department of Aviation is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Intern to join the Dallas Love Field (DAL) team.
Job Title: Environmental Intern Summer Internship
Location: Department of Aviation, City of Dallas
Pay Rate: $21.00 $22.05/hour
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Overview
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental management within an airport setting. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful sustainability projects, including DAL s commitment to carbon emissions reduction.
Essential Functions

Assist in the implementation of sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and water management programs.

Support the airport's environmental compliance efforts, ensuring DAL meets all regulatory requirements and permit obligations.

Participate in Voluntary Noise Program efforts, contributing to initiatives aimed at minimizing aircraft noise impact on surrounding communities.

Attend meetings and training sessions to gain insight into airport environmental management practices.

Contribute to the development of educational materials and presentations on environmental topics, including hazardous communication, spill response, and spill prevention.

Collaborate with stakeholders on environmental projects, gaining experience in teamwork and consensus building.

Participate in community outreach programs, helping enhance the airport s relationship with the local community.
Knowledge and Skills

Must be currently pursuing a bachelor s or master s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.

Demonstrated passion for environmental issues, with an interest in the aviation industry being a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis, presentations, and report preparation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to interact diplomatically with city officials.

Strong skills in investigation and analysis.

Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Experience or coursework related to sustainability initiatives, environmental compliance, data analysis and reporting, and community engagement is beneficial but not required.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited university.
