Job Title: Nutritionist
Location: Grand Prairie, TX
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
*Schedule change in October 7:30am-4:30pm
Pay: $25.00/hr
Responsibilities: The Nutritionist performs professional nutritional assessments for participation in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Provides nutrition counseling, lab assessments, and determinations for the disbursement of benefits.

Gathers, reviews, and evaluates clinical data and nutritional history of applicants to determine eligibility for the program; gathers and compiles weight, height, and iron results to determine general health and status.

Refers participants to appropriate health services and agencies for additional medical care.

Determines appropriate WIC food package to improve health of the participants; sets health goals and care plans to facilitate health success; provides high risk dietitian counseling and assessment.

Facilitates sound nutritional practices through classes, educational pamphlets, videos, and individual and group counseling to educate, motivate, and guide participants in correcting nutritional deficiencies.

Consults with other health care professionals to review participant's medical and nutritional risks; assists with breastfeeding equipment and education.

Prepares growth charts, prenatal weight gain grids, and 24-hour diet recalls to determine nutritional status.

Assists in clerical operations to ensure timely service to clients; facilitates effective work and clinic flow.

Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Job Requirements:

Must have Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics

Knowledge of City policies and procedures.

Knowledge of dietetics and nutrition.

Knowledge of WIC and community care programs and working with women, infants, and children.

Knowledge of evaluation practices and analysis for personal goal setting.

Ability to interpret weight gain grids, lab results, and other assessments.

Ability to communicate program standards.

Ability to effectively teach, guide, and counsel participants.

Ability to assist and direct various community members and patrons.
-
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
-
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
